Atitlan Toxin Exposure
Atitlán Toxin Exposure is the technical medical name for the world-wide epidemic that erupted following the Atitlán volcanic event. The general populace has called it the “Sleeping Disease”, the “Dropping Disease”, the “Super-coma”, and other names. Regardless of the name, the disease is both consistent and aggressive.
Initial exposure results in 1/5000 chance of falling into a coma. 6-10 months later, 1 out of 10 of the coma victims wake up; 1 in of the survivors all demonstrate various forms of post-human powers and abilities; 9 in 10 of the survivors do not.
A secondary exposure has the following results: 1 in 10 of the continuing coma victims wake up (again demonstrating post-human abilities, with a slight upgrade in initial capacities), and another 1 in 10 wake. Awake survivors of the initial exposure fall into another, shorter (3-6 months), coma. 9 of 10 of this second coma awake with an increase in abilities.
